The Pensacola MESS Hall was founded in 2012 by a group of community minded science lovers. That first summer, the MESS Hall operated in a temporary space to gauge community interest. The response was fantastic, and a decision was made to pursue a year round facility.
In spring 2013, the MESS Hall opened in a year round space on Tarragona St. Initially the MESS Hall focused on welcoming general visitors and field trips. In 2014, a grant from Impact 100 provided funding for a van and outreach programming. Over the next few years, outreach programs grew to exceed all onsite visitation.
In 2017 the MESS Hall began the Gulf Coast Science Festival, a celebration of the science discovery in our community. This Festival includes a field trip day for middle school students and a public day for the community to explore hands on science at booths hosted by community partners.
In 2021, the MESS Hall closed the doors on Tarragona St. and re-opened in a new location on Wright Street! Still located in downtown, within the Old East Hill neighborhood.
