Summer Programs

The MESS Hall has a variety of programs for your summer program, including field trips and outreach programs. If you aren’t sure where to begin, email us.

Summer Outreach

Our summer outreach programs engage your learners in exciting scientific discovery. Suitable for mixed ages camps with learners entering grades 1-6. The program can also be modified for older learners.

Featured Show Summer 2026:

Tall Scientific Tales

Stories are science in disguise. Students will explore how language is mathematical and how to communicate with symbols. They will investigate perspective and precision of communication.

What we provide:

A 30 minute interactive science show and one hour of hands on activities at your site. We will bring all materials necessary for the hands-on activities.

What we’ll need from you:

A space large enough to accommodate 6 hands on stations as well as seating (the floor is fine!) for a half hour interactive show. A gymnasium or similar is perfect. Teachers or other program staff are expected to stay with the group. We will assign teachers to assist with the stations, with proper training. Additional facilitators will help make the experience even more engaging.

Summer Field Trips

The MESS Hall looks forward to enhancing your summer program with a field trip to our location. Summer field trips are ideal for elementary age learners and their chaperones. Learners have the opportunity to explore our exhibits and select mess kits to be inspired to continue further scientific discovery.

Pricing: $13 per student

Hours: Groups should arrive between 9:15-9:30 AM. All groups will leave at 11 AM.

Group size: Minimum is 10 students. Maximum is 25. If you have more than 25 students, consider having us visit your location with our outreach programs.

Chaperones: Please provide one chaperone for every 5 students entering grades 1-2 and one chaperone for every 10 students entering grades 3-6. Groups with too few chaperones may be turned away.

A $50 deposit is required per reserved day.
